Naira Marley distances self from terror group, ISIS

Popular Nigerian musician and record label founder, Azeez Fashola also known as Naira Marley, has refused to be sympathetic to the causes of the world’s deadliest terrorist group, Islamic State of Iraq and Syria, ISIS.

The artiste who is currently observing Ramadan, stated that though he is a Muslim, Islamic State does not represent him or his religion.

Naira Marley made the statement via his official Twitter account on Tuesday, 28th of March 2023 after being perturbed by questions of him liking what ISIS is doing under the guise of Islam.

The ‘I Am A Yahoo Boy’ tweeted; “I am a Muslim but ISIS does not represent me or my religion.”

In an earlier post, he sent a Ramadan message to fans on the need to take studying the Quran very seriously.

“The month of Ramadan is the one in which the Quran was sent down as a pure source of guidance for mankind. In it are clear teachings showing the Right Way and the Criterion for judging truth and falsehood,” Naira Marley said.

The singer once influenced a cult-like movement called “Marlians.” His followers at that time were known for their wayward dressings and crazy lifestyles.

However, there was no report of violence by Marley’s fanbase.

Meanwhile, former Presidential aspirant, Adamu Garba has likened Leader of Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu to Boko Haram’s late founder, Mohammed Yusuf.

Garba, who is now in the All Progressives Congress, APC, also said Kanu’s alleged deputy, Simon Ekpa is similar to late Boko Haram leader, Abubakar Shekau.

The politician said second-in commands are known to be more violent, hence why he called on people to unite and deplatform Ekpa from social media.

He said; “As Nnamdi Kanu of IPOB is like Mohammed Yusuf of Boko Haram, so is Simon Ekpa of IPOB, who is like Abubakar Shekau of Boko Haram.

“Oftentimes, second-in commands are more violent. We shouldn’t treat this Ekpa guy with levity. As a patriotic duty, we should unite & deplatform Ekpa.”
