A woman identified as Nnenna Osu, has approached the Customary Court in Nyanya, FCT to dissolve her marriage to her husband, Frank Osu, over alleged domestic violence and abandonment.
The hair dresser claimed that her husband usually flogs her with a cane as though he were seving her a child’s punishment.
Speaking on her numerous travails in the union, the applicant said Mr Osu borrowed a sum of N350,000 from her with a promise to repay the loan but he abandoned his family and left the country.
Nnenna said; “My husband always beats me whenever we have a little misunderstanding. He uses a cane to beat me like a child, leaving lots of bruises on my body.
“My husband collected my money and traveled out of the country, leaving me and our children helpless. When I called him, he said I should move on with my life. That he has found a better wife over there, and that he has moved on”.
The distraught woman asked the court to grant her custody of their children and approve her divorce request because she can no longer endure the pain.
She also urged the court to order her husband to provide a monthly upkeep of N50,000, along with covering their school fees. The respondent was notably absent during the court proceedings.
Recognizing the gravity of the matter, the presiding judge adjourned the case until February 1 for a comprehensive hearing.
