My hit song ‘Johnny’ got leaked before I could officially release it – Yemi Alade [Video]
Award-winning Nigerian singer and songwriter, Yemi Alade, has revealed that her breakout single, ‘Johnny’ was leaked by an unknown person.
She said that she did not release the song officially and it probably would not have been dropped if not that somebody leaked it in 2014.
Yemi Alade opened up on the making of Johnny which she wrote while on tour in Nigeria, and how she never thought it would make her a global star.
The singer shared the story during a chat with Taymesan on the Tea With Taymesan podcast, noting that it was on the day she recorded the song with Selebobo that it got leaked.
In response to a question, Yemi said; “Yes, I felt it. I never thought it was a song that leaked; I didn’t release it officially. If you find the picture, it’s a picture of me with some blonde weave.”
The interviewer asked further; “What do you mean it leaked?”
She added; “It leaked online; it was never officially released. Yes, it probably would never have been released. God finds a way to move people and things around.”
