Mother of 3 seeks divorce because husband ‘stopped loving her’

A woman identified as Taiye AbdulGafar, has applied for divorce at the Area Court, Centre-Igboro, Ilorin, Kwara state on the grounds of lack of love.

She said she is tired of the marriage, and alleged that her partner does not love her anymore so she wants it to end, but she is seeking custody and maintenance of their three children.

Taiye told the court on Wednesday, January 31 that she and her husband, Saadu AbdulGafar wedded under Islamic rites, and after the marriage is dissolved the man should be responsible for the children’s school fees

The respondent, however, explained in court that he was still interested in the marriage and settlement was ongoing to ensure that they continued their relationship.

The presiding judge, Hammad Ajumonbi, advised the petitioner to exercise patience, saying that all marriages had their flaws and nobody had it all in their respective homes.

Ajunmobi said that Mrs AbdulGafar should consider settlement whenever approached by the respondent and continue the marriage, so long as it does not affect her life and that of the children. He adjourned the case until March 11.
