Mixed reactions trail EFCC’s arrest of Bobrisky

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on Wednesday arrested Nigerian crossdresser and socialite, Idris Okuneye, popularly known as Bobrisky.

This was made known by the EFCC Spokesperson, Dele Oyewale, in a statement on Thursday, April 4 while noting that his arrest was in connection with currency mutilation and abuse of the Naira.

Bobrisky was said to have been picked up by operatives of the anti-graft agency at Pinnock Estate in Lagos. Oyewale also promised to issue an official statement regarding the development.

EFCC arrest Bobrisky

He said; “Bobrisky is with us. He was arrested last night in Lagos, and he is at our Lagos command. We arrested him for alleged abuse of naira notes, spraying of nara notes, and currency mutilation, among others.

“We are very serious about restoring the dignity of the naira. Though our investigation is still ongoing, but he will definitely be charged to court soon.”

Meanwhile, a cross section of Nigerians on social media are having a debate about the debate with people arguing on opposing sides.

@_Somto commented; As Efcc dun arrest Bobrisky, which cell them go come put am inside now.

@rutie_xx; Dem arręst Bobrisky ke?? I thought she is above the law.

@austinoscar316; Bobrisky’s arrest is staged … Fall for it at your own peril..

@n6oflife6; Increase Electricity by 350% then Arrest BOBRISKY to divert the Discussions online. Ruling Nigerians is actually very Easy.

@UnclePamilerin; Bobrisky was arrested for Naira abuse. A lot of celebrities were called in for questioning over the last few weeks, especially those that attend parties, spray and dance on the naira note.

@Tee_Classiquem1; As much as i want Bobrisky to get interrogated by police but it isn’t on issue like this at all, if you are arresting him for spraying money at event then everyone here must be located and arrested too because this is even worst.
