Military not solution to North West security crisis— VP Shettima

Kashim Shettima, the Vice President of Nigeria, has asserted that relying solely on military actions will not provide a long-lasting solution to the security crisis in the North-West region.

According to Olusola Abiola, the State House Director of Information for the Vice President, Kashim Shettima, the military’s efforts alone are insufficient to effectively address the ongoing security crisis in the North-West region. This statement was made in relation to President Tinubu’s proposed solution to tackle insecurity and poverty in northern Nigeria.

“Unless we want to engage in an endless war of attrition, there cannot be a military solution to the crisis in the North-West. There has to be a kinetic and non-kinetic solution,” Shettima said in a chat with journalists when he paid condolence visits to the Galadanci and Mangal families in Kano and Katsina, respectively.

The Vice President disclosed that the upcoming weeks would see the Tinubu administration introducing a program aimed at tackling insurgency, poverty, and other pressing issues faced by Nigerians, particularly those residing in the northern region.
