British broadcast veteran, Piers Morgan has revealed who he thinks deserved to win the 2023 Ballon d’Or award over Lionel Messi.
He took to his Twitter (X) account on Tuesday to allege that the award process was rigged after Argentina playmaker, Lionel Messi was announced as this year’s Ballon d’Or winner.
The controversial Tv personality stated that Manchester City striker, Erling Haaland should have picked up the prize instead.
Morgan said; “Messi preposterously winning the Ballon d’Or this year is yet more proof that the whole ‘Golden Ball’ system is rigged.
“He should have won 2 fewer, @Cristiano should have won 2 more, and Haaland should have won this year. End”.
Messi won the Ballon D’Or ahead of Haaland and Mbappe, making it a record eighth time in his career.
Speaking after receiving the award, he said: “Thank you very much, to share this with my national team-mates for what we were able to achieve with the national team.
“The entire group, the coaching staff, everyone involved. I’m delighted to be here once more to be able to enjoy this moment one more time.
“To be able to win the World Cup and really achieve my dream, to share this with all those who were involved.”
