Meet BBNaija star who contested for House of Representatives seat

Fans of Big Brother Naija 2019 ex-housemate, Tuoyo Ideh may be interested to know that their favourite reality star ran for legislative office in the February 25 elections.

The Delta state indigene contested for the Federal House of Representatives seat under the platform of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA).

Tuoyo sought to represent Warri constituency but he lost to the incumbent lawmaker, Thomas Ereyitomi of the Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP).

The BBNaija ‘Pepper Dem’ contestant did not do much campaigns either offline or online so many of his fans were unaware that he was part of the entertainers who were active contestants in the elections.

After losing to Ereyitomi, Tuoyo continued his brand influencing gigs. But he is yet to resume a matchmaking programme he showcases on Instagram.

Similarly , Nollywood actor Olumide Oworu also announced that he would be contesting for the Surulere Constituency 1 House of Assembly seat in Lagos state.

He made the announcement on Thursday, February 23, adding that he will be vying for the seat on the platform of the Labour Party (LP).

Olumide lost to the incumbent member representing the constituency, Desmond Elliot who ran on the platform of the ruling All Progressives Party (APC).

But there was also the issue of duplicity of candidates as INEC failed to update his name in the register as the authentic LP candidate.

The young actor had written; “It is with a sense of honour and duty that I announce my candidacy for membership of The Lagos State House of Assembly – Surulere Constituency 1 on the platform of The Labour Party. The youth of this generation in Nigeria are more politically aware than ever and are now striving to have our voices heard and take part in the government process of this great country.

As someone with a passion for youth development, it is on this note that I tender myself in service to play my part in the actualization of an all inclusive government, where the young Nigerian intellectuals have a chance to make a change by being a part of the move for the creation of a new Nigeria. Thank you for your support. A new Nigeria is POssible #Lumi2023 #LabourParty #HouseOfAssembly #ObiDatti2023″
