A Nigerian man identified as Kolawole Abiodun Abayomi, has recounted how he fell victim to a travel scam orchestrated by his wife’s family.
He said that made arrangements with a travel agent who pretended to have helped many people relocate abroad.
According to Kolawole, the agent was invited by his wife’s family and he showed evidences of how he secured passports and visas for people looking to ‘japa’.
He said he believed it was all genuine because his in-laws were the ones who made the arrangements, and he was so trusting that he involved his sister who lives in Qatar.
The man wrote; “My wife family brought a man and showed me diff evidences that he do diff travelling passports and visas and I believed them bcux this my wife’s family and we started all d process I even included my sister wey dey Qatar on her own she decided to do.”

Similarly, Nigerian actress, Nkechi Blessing Sunday recently lamented about being scammed of N750,000 by an online vendor.
The Nollywood diva said she paid for some items from the vendor who ended up blocking her days after receiving the money.
Nkechi Blessing ranted in a video posted on her Instagram page, while urging people to avoid sponsored adverts on furnitures.
She said that she contacted the seller who sent her an account number and claimed it was the distributor’s bank details.
The actress said she expressed concerns to the vendor, but still went ahead to transfer N750k to them and kept following up but the person was claiming not to have received the money.
However, on the day she made the video, she found out that the person has blocked her on all their platforms.
Nkechi Blessing said she was using herself as a scape goat to warn others to be wary of online vendors.
She said that when she wakes up everyday, she will rain curses on the person until he searches for her and sends the money.
