Kaduna police rescue couple from attempted midnight abduction

Men of the Kaduna State Police Command have foiled a kidnap attempt of a man and his wife in Rigasa, Igabi Local Government Area of the state.

State Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Mansir Hassan, told the News Agency of Nigeria, NAN in Kaduna, that operatives rescued the couple at about 2:05 am on Saturday.

Hassan said the operatives on patrol thwarted an attempt by bandits to abduct the couple between Train Station to Mando Junction and Mahuta village of Igabi.

He said; “At about 02:05 hours, our operatives intercepted a call that bandits invaded a house. The operatives immediately mobilised to the area and engaged the whole area; as a result of that, the bandits abandoned their captives.

The rescued husband sustained injuries on his shoulder and head but was rushed to Yusuf Danstsho Memorial Hospital for medical attention. The wife has since been reunited with her family.”

The spokesperson added that “police had intensified patrol to arrest the culprits. Generally, Rigasa area remains relatively calm.”

Days ago, the Anambra State police command rescued four children of the same parents, who were abducted from their home.

The state spokesperson, DSP Tochukwu Ikenga said the children were taken from Enugwu Agidi in Njikoka Local Government Area of Anambra State.

Ikenga said: “On 15th December 2023 at about 2300, the Police at Abagana received information via Police hotline that suspected herdsmen had abducted four children from a family at Achalla Village, Enugwu Agidi in Njikoka Local Government Area of Anambra State.

“Immediately the Commissioner of Police, CP Aderemi Adeoye, received the report, he ordered the immediate mobilisation of Police personnel and vigilantes to go after the kidnappers with a view to rescuing the children.

“In the early hours of today, Saturday, 16th December 2023, the four children aged 13, 14, 21 and 21 years were rescued close to Urum, 25 kilometres away from their home in Achalla village, Enugwu-Agidi.

“The children have been reunited with their parents while the dragnet for the armed herdsmen is being extended to neighbouring communities.”
