The Nigerian Police on Friday announced that the officer responsible for the death of 16-year-old girl, Tina Ezekwe, has been arrested following an investigation into the circumstances that led to her death.

Tina was shot by a policeman on Tuesday and was rushed to a hospital where she eventually died on Thursday evening.

On Friday, #JusticeForTina became a trending topic on Twitter after a video was posted by Oworo TV on the platform showing the female’s body is being dragged amid a screaming, hysterical crowd.

According to an account, Tina was shot at Iyana-Oworo Berger bus-stop and was rushed to a hospital where she eventually died.

Oworo TV explained that the police officer had been trying to arrest a bus-driver when he mistakenly shot Tina.

Bala Elkana, spokesperson of the state police command, this afternoon, announced via his Twitter handle that the accused police officer has been identified, arrested and will be made to face the full weight of the law.

”The killer cop is identified, arrested and detained at the Headquarters. He will face the full weight of the law. Justice will surely prevail. Members of the Public will be updated on the outcome of the investigation.” he tweeted
