John Dumelo successfully walks backwards from Legon to Presec main gate after losing bet [Video]
Ghanaian actor, John Dumelo, has completed the barefooted backwards walk from Legon to Presbyterian Boys Senior High, (PRESEC) in Accra in fulfilment of a pledge.
The movie star had placed a bet publicly that he will trek backwards to the Presec campus should the school beat his alma mater, Achimota School in the 2023 National Science & Maths Quiz (NSMQ) finale.
When PRESEC qualified for the NSMQ2023 grand finale against Achimota School and Opoku Ware School, Dumelo believed that his school would win the contest.
However, when the Math contest held on Monday, October 30, 2023, Achimota School and Opoku Ware School lost to PRESEC.
“I am a proud Achimotan but If presec wins the #NSMQ2023 on the 31st I will walk barefoot backwards from Ayawaso West Wuogon to presec school! They can’t win over Motown! Presec? Tweeeaa!!!,” he tweeted.
On Tuesday, October 31, after losing the bet challenge, the actor said he would keep to his word and commenced his barefooted walk from the Legon main gate to Presec.
John Dumelo wrote; “I am a man of my word. I will be walking backwards barefoot from the UG main gate to the Presec gate Tomorrow, October 31 at 4 p.m. I want to congratulate Presec for winning the NSMQGrandFinale. I am wholeheartedly proud of my Achimota School and also OWASS. I will walk the talk. #idey4u,”.
After nearly a whole day of walking, the award-winning thespian finally reached his destination without once walking forward and he was given a rousing welcome when he arrived at the main gate.
