I’ve never experienced depression – Singer, Korede Bello

Nigerian singer-songwriter, Korede Bello has said that he does not understand what it means for one to be depressed.

Speaking in an interview with The Cable, the ex-Mavin artiste said he’s never experienced depression.

The ‘Godwin’ hitmaker revealed that he is a mental health advocate, but added that the idea of depression is difficult for him to explain.

He said; “I advocate for mental health but I don’t know what depression is.

“When I say I don’t know what depression is doesn’t mean I don’t know what the theoretical definition is. I don’t know what it means to say I’m depressed.

“I know that there are times when I go through some waves of emotion, I just try to protect my internal environment as much as I can.

“There will be times where obviously things do not go as you expect. I’m proactive with my mental health so I don’t let myself get to that place because it probably will be really bad if I ever get there.”

Meanwhile, music executive, Ubi Franklin has said he had almost $5 million in his possession in 2017 but he was still depressed.

He stated this on Tea With Taymesan podcast where he also revealed that he had that amount of money a year after his marriage to Lilian Esoro crashed, but it did not prevent depression.

The Founder of Triple MG said he owned the best cars and also bought an expensive new whip but all these did not make him feel better.

Ubi Franklin said there was a time when he thought his marriage did not work because he didn’t have the money to fix the marital issues.

He explained that the five million dollars was generated from earlier investments on crypto and other business ventures.

The record label said another thing that made the situation worse apart from not having a home was that his close friend and signee, Iyanya was not around because he had left his label.
