It’s because ‘Beyonce is Beyonce’ that I haven’t placed Burna Boy above her – Tacha

Nigerian reality TV star, Anita Natacha Akide, popularly known as Tacha, has opined that Grammy winning singer Burna Boy deserves to be on the same level with international artistes.

She said that if R&B superstar, ‘Beyoncé was not Beyoncé’, she would have rated Burna Boy above the ‘Irreplaceable’ crooner. Tacha made the comparison after his performance at the 66th annual Grammys last Sunday.

The Big Brother Naija star was full of praises for the self acclaimed African Giant during an episode of The Big Friday show hosted by Tacha on Cool FM.

Tacha said his stage performance is impressive, he has no bad song, and as such he should not be compared with any Nigerian musicians.

She said; “If it wasn’t that Beyonce is Beyonce, I really would almost place Burna Boy above Beyonce because nobody performs like Burna Boy.

“Have you seen Burna Boy perform? like Burna Boy is on the level of any foreign, international, any Afrobeat level because Burna Boy has no bad song.”

CorrectNG reported earlier that Nigerian Hip Hop star, Ikechukwu Onunaku, has accused Grammy organizers of using his compatriots for cheap publicity.

He lamented over the fact that no Nigerian musicians won award at the 66th edition on the Grammys which held on Sunday night.

A furious Ikechukwu, who noted that people had been complaining about the same thing, also accused the organisers of attempting to compartmentalize Afrobeats.

In his words; “We were just used, them use us the same way dem dey always use us, it’s not today that they started protesting and complaining about the Grammys. What I think we should do is stop sending in submissions and create our own Grammys.

We don’t even have to attach it to that name ‘Grammys’, we don’t need to prove to these people that we kill it. Look at what they did. They took all of us over there, utilised us, and then just betrayed us, compartmentalized us. It’s a shame.”
