Irish chef, Alan Fisher displaces Hilda Baci to break Guinness World Record

Guinness World Records (GWR) has confirmed Irish chef, Alan Fisher as the new record holder for longest cooking marathon by an individual.

Fisher completed the cooking marathon in 119 hours and 57 minutes at his restaurant in Japan.

GWR announced the new record through its official social media account on Tuesday, 7th of November 2023.

“Nigerian cooking queen Hilda Baci has been dethroned. Alan Fisher from Ireland cooked for an incredible 119 hours and 57 minutes at his restaurant in Japan,” it wrote.

He has displaced Nigerian chef, Hilda Bassey Effiong aka Hilda Baci, who was the last title holder with a the record time of 93 hours 11 minutes.

Hilda had cooked over 110 meals for 100 hours to beat the previous Guinness World Record of 87 hours, 45 minutes and 00 seconds.

The organization, however, reduced her time by 7 hours for slightly breaking a rule, and officially accorded her the record time of 93 hours 11 minutes.

Confirming her in June 2023, GWR wrote; “Following a thorough review of all the evidence, Guinness World Records can now confirm that Hilda Effiong Bassey, better known as Hilda Baci, has officially broken the record for the longest cooking marathon (individual), with a time of 93 hours 11 minutes.”

The native of Akwa Ibom State commenced a four-day ‘cook-a-thon’ on Thursday, May 11 at 4pm in Amore Gardens, Lekki, Lagos State.
