I’m looking forward to being nominated for Oscar – Kehinde Bankole

After clinching Best Lead Actress award at the 10th edition of the Africa Magic Viewers Choice Awards, AMVCA, Nollywood actress, Kehinde Bankole, has expressed her desire to win the Oscars.

Bankole’s movie, ‘Adire’ earned her the win for Best actress while Wale Ojo went him with the Best Actor award for his film, Breath of Life.

Speaking to Saturday Beats, the movie star said Nollywood actors should aspire to get international recognition and opportunities.

In her words; “I will like an Oscar nomination. Every actor should actually want to get international exposure and opportunities. In Africa, obviously, we are really working hard. If we can get more international recognition, why not? We are gradually getting there on our own though.”

Bankole also stated that she felt grateful winning the ‘Best Lead Actress’ award, stating that it was a responsibility bestowed on her to keep doing more.

On why she appreciated her colleagues, Yvonne Jegede, Funlola Aofiyebi-Raimi, co-stars on the movie, the actress said it was teamwork.

He said; “I appreciated my other colleagues, such as Yvonne Jegede, Funlola Aofiyebi Raimi and Ifeanyi Kalu, who starred in the movie, because it was a team work, and without the story, everyone cannot perform.”
