He said; “I was involved in the Niger Delta crisis. God has saved my life severally. I am a Port Harcourt boy. I am not from Lagos. I come from the South South, from the war zone before the amnesty.

“I have been involved with a lot of community activities that had to do with protecting of our people, oil. But when fame came, nobody know I am that boy who was in the creeks back in the days.”

Veteran singer, Edward Ashiedu Brown alias Eddy Remedy, has claimed that his father was among those who wrote the Nigerian national anthem.

The former member of music group, The Remedies said his father, Ashiedu Brown, a retired police officer, was in the Nigeria Police Band that composed the national anthem.

Eddy lamented that despite his dad’s contribution, all the credits were given to his boss, Benedict Elise Odiase, the director of the band.

The artiste made the statement during a live chat with media personality, Daddy Freeze. He said that to date, his father has not been given any national honour.

Eddy Remedy also posited that the Mr Asidu Brown’s experience made him oppose his musical career because he believed that he would never be rewarded by Nigeria.

He said; “Now I understand why my dad didn’t want me to do music. Because they did the same thing to him. My dad was among those who wrote the national anthem. But what did he get? Did they give him any recognition? Instead, they gave all the credit to his boss, [Benedict] Odiase, who was the commissioner of Police then”.
