I rejected $200,000 record deal – Rapper Odumodublvck [Video]

Nigerian rapper, Tochukwu Ojogwu aka Odumodublvck, has revealed that he turned down a recording contract of $200,000 before joining his current label, NATIVE.

He said he was approached by some music executives to join their music label for $200k but he declined and chose to accept NATIVE Records which is owned by Teezee of DRB Lasgidi.

Odumodublvck made the revelation before his performance at a recent show in Abuja, where he started his music career.

The ‘Picanto’ crooner said making music for him has never been about the money, and he expressed joy that his choice yielded positive results.

According to the 29-year-old rapper, his name is now part of conversations and across Lagos, Abuja and other parts of Nigeria.

He said; “I will tell you this for free, I had some people, they offered me 200,000 dollars to join them, I said no. I took 10,000 first from Teezee, I declined 200 and took 10 to be with Teezee. It’s not about the money. Now we are here, we are in the conversation.”

The Hip Hop artiste got signed to American multinational record label, Def Jam Recordings in September 2023.

Videos which went viral online showed Odumodu at Def Jam’s corporate office in New York, United States of America, where the signing took place.

The ‘Declan Rice’ crooner, who was given a warm welcome, mentioned how hip-hop legends like 2pac, DMX, and 50 Cent significantly influenced his love of the genre.

The rapper recalled how he absorbed components of 50 Cent’s unique sound into his music style and how conforming to the G-Unit concept gave rise to his robust team that he cherishes greatly.
