Popular Nigerian songstress, Sarah Aderibigbe better known as Ayra Starr, has revealed that she suffered writer’s block which affected her creative process.
The ‘Sabi’ hit-maker said she couldn’t write songs for about six months until she received the demo of her song ’21’ off her new album, ‘The Year I Turned 21,’ from a friend as a 21st birthday gift.
She said that demo opened her mind and made the song flow so easy that she was recording her sophomore album while lying down with a microphone in her hand and everything was done in a single take.
Ayra Starr said; “I got the demo of ’21’ from a friend as a birthday gift the day I turned 21. I had told him that it has been so hard… I was having a writer’s block for six months.
I couldn’t write about myself then he gave me the first version of the song in a demo as my birthday gift. Recording ’21’ was quite easy for me, I did it in one-take. I was even lying down with the mic in my hand.
’21’ is special because it is what opened my mind to the rest of the album. With ’21’ I started to see myself again the way I wanted to see myself.”

Nigerian online comedian, Lawal Michael Nasiru Bolaji, known by his stage name, Nasboi, has revealed that he cries when he does not get ideas to create content.
The popular skit-maker made this known during a recent interview on TVC’s programme, ESplash, adding that getting ideas for content isn’t easy despite being multi-talented.
Nasboi, who was formerly known as ‘Low Budget OBO’, revealed that he does not have any scriptwiter and everything he releases comes straight from his head. He added that he could suffer a creative block sometimes and won’t get any content ideas for three weeks.
“I don’t have scriptwriters. All my skits are my brain work. Everything is me. People make it look like, ‘you are so talented, it [inspiration] just come.’ It’s a lie o. Sometimes, I could stay like three weeks and I don’t get a single content. A lot of people are not so emotional, my emotion is on the high side.
So, when I don’t get content, I cry. I’m not lying to you. It gets that bad. I feel like, ah! Dem don collect my talent. Two weeks and nothing is funny to me. It happens,” he said.
