I don’t want him to ever hear from me – Basketmouth refuses to address feud with AY

Popular Nigerian comedian, Bright Okpocha, has refused to address the claim by his colleague, AY that the cause of their feud was a debt of N30,000.

Ayodeji Richard Makun, popularly known as AY Makun narrated during an interview with media personality, Chude Jideonwo that Basketmouth often called him to perform at events at the start of his career.

According to him, the 17-year feud with Basketmouth, started after a particular event he attended which the organisers had expected Basketmouth to be present.

He revealed that he wasn’t paid and had to reach out to Basketmouth who told him also that the organisers hadn’t paid.

AY said he contacted the organisers and was shocked to find that payment had been made even before the event.

He said; “Usually, what we get at that time is N30,000. N30,000 at that time was everything to me,”

“N30,000 would buy me my pack of [noodles], recharge cards, fuel for my generator. [It allowed me] to pay just one or two people to join me to do one or two skits that I can just quickly put out. I got this job and the people weren’t too happy to see me because they were expecting a Basketmouth to come. Long story short, the guy was later happy after the performance. There was an exchange of contact. Then I left.

“Two weeks running, I hadn’t seen ₦30,000. Because I didn’t see the ₦30,000, I was starving in Iponri. I decided to ask for ₦30,000 and he said this person hasn’t remitted. He said they were not happy.”

Basketmouth was questioned about the issue during a live comedy show, and he said that he does not want to share his side of the story neither does he want to comment.

He explained that what he says would be reported by the media as an official reply to AY and he does not want that to be the case because he doesn’t want the actor to ever get a response from him.
