I didn’t mean ‘quit music’ – US singer, Lizzo clears air

American music star, Melissa Viviane Jefferson better known as Lizzo has clarified that she wasn’t referring to music when she said ‘I quit’.

It was reported earlier that the singer and songwriter announced she is retiring from music because she was tired of “being the butt of the joke every single time because of how I look.”

In a lengthy rant, the four-time Grammy winner explained that she is constantly being bullied for clout and it is not what she signed up for when she decided to do music.

Lizzo quit

According to Lizzo, she felts like the world does not want her in it, and her belief is reenforced by the fact that people pick on her and disrespect her name.

The 35-year-old singer said all she ever wanted was to make people happy through her music and help the world be a better place to live in.

Lizzo had written; “I’m getting tired of putting up with being dragged by everyone in my life and on the internet. All I want is to make music and make people happy and help the world be a little better than how I found it.

But I’m starting to feel like the world doesn’t want me in it. I’m constantly up against lies being told about me for clout & views… being the butt of the joke every single time because of how I look.

My character being picked apart by people who don’t know me and disrespecting my name. I didn’t sign up for this shit-I QUIT.”

However, speaking in a fresh video posted on her social media page, Lizzo explained that what she meant was she would no longer pay attention to all the negative energy.

She wrote: “When I say I quit, I mean I quit giving any negative energy attention… What I’m not gonna quit is the joy of my life, which is making music.”
