A simple smoothie recipe is one of the easiest, quickest, and most picky eater-pleasing ways to add a serving (or several) of produce to a daily diet.

Smoothies are full of nutrients and flavor, it is a nourishing drink which can be served during breakfast, lunch or dinner. It is made purely from fruits and vegetables. There are so many recipe for smoothies, but there is no wrong way to make smoothies, using the right recipe is a great start.

Smoothies are high in vitamins, minerals and other beneficial nutrients. Knowing how to make your own smoothie will save you the cost of having to buy smoothies.

Here are six great recipe for making smoothies;

6. Chocolate banana smoothie 


  • 1 banana
  • 1 Tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 4 ice cubes (if you don’t use frozen banana)
  • ¾ cup Silk Chocolate Soy Milk
  • Whipped cream (optional)
  • Your choice of sprinkles (optional)

How to make it

  • Gather all the ingredients
  • Put banana, cocoa powder, ice cubes and chocolate soy milk in an electric blender
  • Blend until all the ingredients are combined and smooth.
  • Pour into a glass (or 2 small glasses). Add whipped cream and your choice of sprinkles, if desired.

5. Banana milkshake


  • 250ml semi-skimmed milk
  • 1 scoop vanilla ice cream
  • 2 bananas, chopped
  • 50ml double cream, whipped pinch cinnamon
  • A few dried banana chips
  • fresh cherry

How to make it

  • Put the milk, vanilla ice cream and banana into a blender.
  • Blend everything up until smooth then pour into a tall glass.
  • Top with a big spoonful of whipped cream and decorate with a pinch of cinnamon, some banana chips and a cherry.
  • Serve immediately with a colorful straw.

4. Blueberry and Coconut Milk Smoothie


  • 11/2 cups blueberries
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened coconut milk
  • 1/2 cup ice cubes
  • 2 teaspoons honey
  • 1 teaspoon fresh lemon juice

How to Make It

  • Place the berries, coconut milk, ice cubes,honey and lemon juice into a blender.
  • Pulse a few times, then blend until it is smooth.
  • Pour into glasses and serve.

3. Chocolate, Banana, and Peanut Butter Smoothie


  • 1 banana, frozen (sliced into chunks)
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 2 tablespoons smooth peanut butter
  • 2 tablespoons chocolate syrup
  • 1/2 teaspoon chocolate extract
  • 1 cup ice cubes

How to Make It

  • Place the banana, milk, peanut butter, chocolate syrup, chocolate extract, and ice into a blender.
  • Blend until it is the desired texture.
  • Pour into glasses and serve.

2. Strawberry watermelon smoothie


  • 1 1/2 cups fresh watermelon (black seeds removed)
  • 1 cup frozen strawberries
  • 1/2 medium ripe banana
  • 1/2 – 3/4 cup unsweetened plain almond milk
  • 1 medium lime (juiced)
  • 1 Tbsp chia or hemp seeds (optional)

How to make it

  • Add all ingredients to a blender and blend until creamy and smooth.
  • Add more almond milk to thin, or more frozen strawberries or ice to thicken.
  • Taste and adjust seasonings as needed, adding more lime for acidity, banana for sweetness, or watermelon for a more intense watermelon flavor.
  • Serves best when fresh, though leftovers keep covered in the refrigerator for 1-2 days

1. Apple smoothie


  • 1 large Apple, peeled, cored and chopped
  • 1/2 cup Milk
  • 1/3 cup Vanilla Yogurt or Plain Yogurt
  • 5 Almonds (or 1 tablespoon almond powder), optional
  • 1 teaspoon Honey or Sugar
  • A dash of ground Cinnamon, optional

How to make it

  • Peel and cut apple into halves. Remove the core and cut apple into large pieces.
  • Add apple and almonds in a blender jar.
  • Add milk, yogurt and honey.
  • Blend until smooth and there are no chunks of fruit.
  • Pour prepared smoothie into a chilled serving glass and sprinkle cinnamon over it.
  • Drink it immediately for better taste because it will turn brown within half an hour.
