How my ‘chemistry’ with Falz inspired our joint EP – Simi opens up

Popular singer Simisola Kosoko, simply known by her stage name, Simi, has revealed how she and rapper, Falz derived the name for their joint EP ‘Chemistry’.

She said they were inspired by the fact that fans loved how well they synced on songs and they were often told that they had good chemistry, so they decided to adopt it as the EP name.

Simi recounted the story when she appeared as a guest on American media personality, Angela Yee’s podcast, ‘Way Up.’

The ‘Duduke’ hit-maker stated that before she met and married her husband, Adekunle Gold, her chesmistry with Falze was so intense that a lot of people thought they were in a romantic relationship.

The mother-of-one also hinted during the interview that she has a new song with Falz coming out later this month, with the intention of stirring nostalgia.

Simi said; “I have one more single coming out at the end of this month. I can’t say the title now but I can tell you who I’m featuring on it. It’s Falz!

This is interesting because Falz and I have a history. Before I got married, we did an EP and everything. People thought we were dating. We had a couple of songs together and people loved them.

They were like, ‘You have a good chemistry.’ So we decided to do a joint EP and we made an EP called ‘Chemistry.’ People really loved it.

So we want to do something again for the culture. It’s kind of a funny song. I’m really excited and I can’t wait for people to hear it.”

Simi and Falz sparked dating rumours when they released a joint EP titled, ‘Chemistry’ in 2016. But the rumours faded after she married Adekunle Gold in 2019.

Meanwhile, in another news…

CorrectNG recalls that ace Nigerian songstress, Simi earlier revealed what made her agree to date her husband, Adekunle Kosoko aka Adekunle Gold.

She recalled meeting the ‘Something Different’ singer duiring a music show she had at Bogobiri in Lagos and their relationship started from friendship.

According to her, Adekunle Gold’s persistence made her consider dating him during the early days of their careers. She said he had been messaging her via Facebook for a while but she didn’t notice until they started dating.

Simi said; “In the gospel community, I was pretty well known. And he [Adekunle Gold] had heard my album at that time as well. He has been reaching out to me on Facebook, DMing me on Facebook. But I didn’t see those DMs until we started dating.

“I don’t remember how we eventually linked up again. I had a show Bogobiri, and he turned up. He was very slim at that time with white BYC and jeans. He came to see me perform. I was like, ‘Oh hey! He was like, ‘Oh! I’m such a fan.’ And I was like, ‘Okay!’ [laughs].

“I don’t know, he must have been persistent because there is a friendship that came out from there. I thought he was a really nice guy. We became friends and later that year, he asked me out. I mean, as much as I was sounding like all that, I still didn’t really have nothing. He was a nice guy and I was like, ‘Okay, I don’t mind a nice guy’ [laughs].”
