Over last weekend, we brought you a report of a 46-year old American woman identified as Jeanine Delsky, who arrived Panshekara, Kano, to meet the parents of a 26-year-old Nigerian lover, Sulaiman Babayero Isa whom she met online, after they agreed to get married.
Delsky, a mother of two who lives in California, USA, landed at the Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport, Kano on Saturday and went straight to his family house.
Their story quickly went viral on the internet which has attracted the attention of security agencies. During an interview with BBC Pidgin, Sulaiman revealed that Hisbal Corps, a religious police force in Kano state responsible for the enforcement of Sharia, and DSS invited him to their offices.
According to him, he was scared when he received their invitations, however they only advised him when he get to their offices following the amount of media attention his story has gained.
On how they met, Sulaiman revealed that they met after he started following her on Instagram and sent her a message to warn her when he realised that some internet fraudsters were trying to scam her which then gained her attention. They started to chat, doing video calls afterwards and subsequently started a romantic relationship.
According to him, he would travel back to the US with her after their wedding which has been planned to hold in March, go back to school over there as he has only finished his secondary school education and try to get a soccer team to play for.
Sulaiman’s mother, Fatima, said she had no objection to her son’s relationship with his American girlfriend, noting that she would pray for them to have a happy married life in America.
