Hilda Baci surpasses 87-hour mark to break Guinness World Record

Hilda Baci, a Nigerian chef attempting to break the Guinness World Record for the longest cooking time has surpassed the current record.

The native of Akwa Ibom State commenced a four-day ‘cook-a-thon’ on Thursday, May 11 at Amore Gardens, Lekki, Lagos State.

She began to have teary eyes as her cook-a-thon which is being streamed live reached the 79th hour.

To get recognition from the Guinness World Records, Hilda has been cooking multiple dishes for days and hopes to do so for more than 87 hours.

The 27-year-old graduate is looking to beat the current record of 87 hours, 45 minutes, and 00 secs for the world’s longest cooking marathon.

Indian chef Lata Tondon holds the current record which she completed in Rewa, India in 2019.

Baci is, however, not stopping the cook-a-thon as she’s now on her way to set a new Guinness World Record.

The GWR team would have to officially acknowledge her achievement before she can be declared the new record holder.
