Hilda Baci receives Guinness World Record plaque in Lagos (Video)

Nigerian chef, Hilda Essien Bassey also known as Hilda Baci has received her plaque after emerging the new record holder for longest cooking marathon by an individual.

Guinness World Records (GWR) confirmed the 26-year-old as the new record holder last Tuesday after reviewing the evidence.

Hilda to her Instagram page on Monday, June 19 to announce that the plaque was delivered to her.

She shared a video showing the moment it arrived in a delivery van and the dispatch man handed her a box at her residence in Lagos state.

The restaurateur however said she will not open the box yet and her friend said they have to organise an official ‘unboxing’ event.

Hilda captioned; “Our plaque is here ๐Ÿ˜†๐Ÿ˜†๐Ÿ˜†๐Ÿ˜†๐Ÿ˜† @guinnessworldrecords”

She cooked over 110 meals for 100 hours to beat the existing Guinness World Record of 87 hours, 45 minutes and 00 seconds.

Guinness however, reduced her time by 7 hours for slightly breaking a rule, and officially accorded her the record time of 93 hours 11 minutes.

GWR wrote; โ€œFollowing a thorough review of all the evidence, Guinness World Records can now confirm that Hilda Effiong Bassey, better known as Hilda Baci, has officially broken the record for the longest cooking marathon (individual), with a time of 93 hours 11 minutes.โ€

The previous record holder, Indian chef, Lata Tondon broke cooked for the longest hours in 2019 and in 2023, Hilda surpassed it after cooking for four days.

Hilda began the cooking competition on Thursday, May 11 at 4 pm and completed it by 8 p.m. on Monday, May 15, 2023.
