Hilda Baci congratulates Fisher as he breaks her record

Immediate past world record holder for the longest cooking marathon by an individual, Chef Hilda Bassey aka Hilda Baci, has congratulated Irish chef, Alan Fisher on becoming the new record holder.

Guinness World Records (GWR), on Tuesday, November 6, confirmed that Fisher completed the cooking marathon at his restaurant in Japan.

GWR announced the new record of 119 hours and 57 minutes through its official social media account.

“Nigerian cooking queen Hilda Baci has been dethroned. Alan Fisher from Ireland cooked for an incredible 119 hours and 57 minutes at his restaurant in Japan,” it wrote.

He displaces Hilda Baci, who was the last title holder with a the record time of 93 hours 11 minutes.

Reacting to the development, she took to her official Twitter page and wished Fisher all the best in his endeavour.

“Huge congratulations to Alan Fisher! 119hrs 57mins is a huge achievement, and I wish him all the best as the new world record holder!” Baci wrote.

The Nigerian culinary expert had cooked over 110 meals for 100 hours to beat Indian Chef Lata Tondon’s Guinness World Record of 87 hours, 45 minutes and 00 seconds.

But Guinness reduced Hilda’s time by 7 hours for slightly breaking a rule, and officially accorded her the record time of 93 hours 11 minutes.
