A businesswoman, Mrs Nancy Ngi, has approached a Customary Court in Nyanya, Abuja, to dissolve her marriage because of her husband’s alleged abusive nature.
She prayed the court on Monday, February 5 to end her union to her estranged partner, while narrating how he assaults her.
Nancy applicant alleged that he is a violent man who uses a hammer on her whenever they have a misunderstanding at home.
“My husband is a violent man. He is short tempered and he throws dangerous things at me. He uses a hammer on me. I have been going through martial torture. It is even severe now than when we were newly married.
“Now he beats me in front of our children with whatever he can lay his hands on. I pray the court to dissolve our marriage,” she said.
Mrs Ngi added that her husband was doubting the paternity of their son. However, her hubby denied all the allegations.
In addition to the many allegations, the divorce-seeking woman told the court that her husband locks the storage room where foodstuffs are kept.
The presiding judge, Doocivir Yawe, adjourned the matter until February 20, 2024 for hearing.
