Gunmen attack Niger school, abduct students, staff

Gunmen have abducted some students and staff of Government Science College Kagara in Rafi Local government area of Niger State.

Channels TV reports that at least one student is feared killed.

The attack was said to have taken place in the early hours of Wednesday, February 17.

Some family members of staff residing within the college staff quarters were also reported to have been abducted by the gunmen.

A witness told Channels TV that a student, who tried to escape was shot dead while some others sustained injuries but Daily Trust cannot independently verify this claim.

Also commenting on the abduction, former Senator, Shehu Sani, said he has spoken with the principal of the school who confirmed the incident.

The incident happened 48 hours after 21 passengers heading to Minna, capital of Niger State, were abducted in broad daylight.
