Gunmen abduct NLC chairman

Bandits have abducted Peter Jediel, chairman of Nigeria Labour Congress, (NLC) in Taraba state.

According to Daily Trust, the incident occurred on Sunday, February 7, 2021 at Jediel’s residence in Sunkani, Ardo Kola Local Government Area of the state.

This comes barely two-weeks after Salihu Dovo, chairman of the local government was killed by gunmen suspected to be herders shortly after he was whisked away at gunpoint.

Eyewitness reports said the bandits, numbering up to a dozen, breached Jediel’s residence around 1:12am and started shooting sporadically before gaining entrance into his house.

The NLC chairman was said to have been taken away to an undisclosed location.

Taraba police spokesman, David Misal reportedly said he has been transferred from the state and no substantive replacement has been named as of Sunday evening.
