Governor Aiyedatiwa dissolves Ondo executive council, sacks all Akeredolu’s aides

The newly sworn-in Governor of Ondo state, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has ordered the dissolution of the State Executive Council, with immediate effect.

It was gathered that Aiyedatiwa also sacked the Senior Special Assistants, SSAs, and Special Assistants, SAs that worked under the late ex-governor, Rotimi Akeredolu.

Akeredolu passed on in December 2023, at a hospital in Germany German following a long battle with a terminal illness.

Burial arrangement by his family said Akeredolu’s funeral rites would begin from February 15 to February 25 in Ibadan, Akure and Owo.

CorrectNG recalls that the Special Adviser to the Ondo State Governor on Union Matters, Dare Aragbaiye tendered his resignation last month.

He submitted his resignation letter addressed to the Ondo State Governor’s office, a few hours after news broke of the death of Akeredolu.

Aragbaiye said his loyalty to the former governor influenced his decision to resign as he remains loyal even in death.

The letter read in part: “My decision is based on the unfortunate death of my principal, whom I am loyal to even in death.

“I sincerely thank His Excellency for the opportunity granted me to serve in his administration as a member of the State Executive Council, first as Head of Service and now as Special Adviser.”
