Generator mechanic bags 7 years imprisonment for Impregnating client’s underage daughter

A Rivers Magistrate Court in Port Harcourt has sentenced a generator mechanic to seven years in jail for defiling and impregnating a 12-year-old girl.

Anayo Ugo was called by the victim’s father in 2021 to carry out repairs on their power generator in Oyigbo Local Government Area of the state.

When the convict visited the residence, he ended up defiling the underage girl, an action which also put her in the family way.

It was gatheed that he then threatened to kill the girl if she told anyone about the incident and thereafter fled.

However months later, when the teen’s mother started noticing changes in her daughter, she confronted the little girl and she opened up.

The family immediately reported the matter to the Rivers state police which in turn began hunting for the suspect until he was arrested.

During the trial, although Ugo admitted having carnal knowledge of the girl (name unknown), he claimed she was the one that held him when he went to repair their generator and dragged him inside her room.

Chief Magistrate, Rita Ogugua said the prosecution was able to prove their case through evidence and admission by the convict, who is in his early 50s.

She thereafter convicted and sentenced Ugo to seven years imprisonment without an option of fine. Ogugua said her ruling followed the defendant’s plea for mercy after being found guilty.
