France coach, Deschamps surprised over Pogba’s failed drugs test at Juventus

France head coach, Didier Deschamps has said he is very surprised that midfielder, Paul Pogba failed his drug tests at Juventus.

Deschamps finds it hard to belief that his tests came back positive because he believes the 30-year-old player would not knowingly take a banned substance.

Pogba is potentially facing a lengthy ban after testosterone was found in his body system during a recent drugs test with Juventus.

The former Manchester United star has the opportunity to submit an appeal but could be suspended for up to four years if found guilty.

However, the France coach who has worked extensively with Pogba during their time together in the national team, also revealed that he has already reached out to the football star.

Deschamps, in an interview with TF1, said; “Obviously I am very surprised but I have nothing to judge the matter on.

“He has a lot of things on his plate, it is a very difficult time. I will have time to speak to him in the next few days, I have already sent him a message.”

Asked if he believed Pogba would have knowingly taken a banned substance, he said: “I can’t imagine it, knowing him he would not do it.”

Former Manchester United striker, Odion Ighalo may move to Saudi Arabian club, Al Wehda.

It was reported that Ighalo reached an agreement with the club for a two-year contract having received approval from the Saudi Pro-League.

The 34-year-old ex-Nigeria international was expected to undergo medicals few weeks ago. Ighalo’s agreed move to Al Wehda is as a free agent having left Al Hilal at the end of his contract in June 2023. He was the top scorer in the Saudi Pro League in the 2021/2022 season.
