Nigeria will take on the Palancas Negras of Angola in a quarter-final fixture on Friday, 2nd of February.

Super Eagles striker, Victor Osimhen has said his objective at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations is to help Nigeria win the trophy.

He said he wants the current Nigerian team to return home with the trophy. He, however, added that the team is not yet playing at their peak.

“I want to win something with this great squad. I want to give Nigeria something that they will remember. I’m giving everything to come home with the [AFCON] trophy.

“I cannot lie, we haven’t played the best of our football yet. I think the whole team has this mentality of winning, we want to win.

“For me, we are more like a family than just players. So for me, it is important to have this mentality of winning.

“I want to give kudos to my defenders. They have been focused since the start of this competition. We also have a good goalkeeper [Nwabali]. We want to keep this momentum going,” Osimhen said.
