FCT minister, Wike summons emergency meeting amid worsening insecurity

Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike, has summoned an emergency meeting amid worsening insecurity currently in the nation’s capital.

In the space of one week there have been multiple reports of abductions in different parts of Abuja, particularly worrisome is that of Nabeeha, who died in capitivity.

Nigerians on social media had launched a fundraising campaign to seek the release of the lady and five of her sisters, unfortunately reports filtered in that the kidnappers killed Nabeeha to due to delay in providing the ransom.

Also it was gathered that a secondary school student identified as Folorunsho Ariyo, kidnapped in the Dutse axis had been killed by her abductors.

Gunmen invaded Sagwari Layout Estate in Dutse on Sunday, January 7, and abducted 10 residents, including Miss Ariyo, her mother and three siblings.

Speaking on the spate of kidnappings, Wike assured residents of the FCT of their safety. He said the government was working to support security agents with all that they need to tackle insecurity.

Among those in attendance are heads of security agencies in the FCT, top officials of the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA), council chairmen as well as traditional rulers. The FCT minister also warned the area council chairmen to be alive to their responsibility at the local level.
