Ekiti woman set to go to jail for stabbing husband to death

Mrs Janet Jegede have been arrested by the Ekiti State Police for allegedly stabbing her 60-year-old husband, Mr Jegede, to death at their house on Alafiatayo, Zone 1, Bamgboye area of Ado Ekiti.

The 30-year-old who is a professional nurse, was said to carry out the murder during an argument with the deceased last Sunday, according to reports from residents of the community.

”We attended the same church. She had sent the two kid to church on Sunday for a special programme before the incident occurred. When we heard about the incident, the people at her house who met the policemen there said she was holding a knife and telling everybody to come in and eat, which suggested that she is psychologically disturbed” a resident said

Confirming the incident, the spokesperson of the state police command, DSP Caleb Ikechukwu, the incident is currently being investigated. “Autopsy will be carried out after investigation.” he said.

Residents allege the suspect might be battling a mental illness.
