EFCC arrests Soldier, 26 others for alleged cyber fraud

Lagos State zonal office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, have arrested Lance Corporal Ajayi Kayode and 26 suspects for alleged internet fraud in Lekki area of the state.

In a statement by EFCC, Kayode, with service number NAF18/34732, was arrested in his military attire during an early morning raid at 6B, Fatai Idowu Arobike, Lekki Phase 1, Lagos, on Saturday, 15th August 2020, following intelligence received from concerned residents about his alleged involvement in criminal activities.

The soldier was arrested alongside Kalu Emmanuel, Hassan Sunday, Miracle Onyekwere, Habeeb Ayomide, David Okem, Victor Ochiabuito, Olakunle Ajeigbu, Rasheed Olanrewaju, Christopher Prince, Victor Ologhu, Alex Aka and Salam Hakeem.

Others are: Adeniran Nurudeen, Fuad Akinbayo, Babatunde Idowu, Uzo Igwe Nathaniel, Godswill Maduchem, Opeyemi Ojo Chris, Derrick Moris, Shehu Oluoti, Samson Kazeem, Oluwatobi Oluwatoba, Debowale Adedoyin, Shegun Emmanuel, Olaitan Ajao and Oyindamola Kareem.

Kayode, in his statement to the anti-graft agency, said the “big shot yahoo yahoo boys” who he was arrested alongside, were his friends and that they had been teaching him how to make money through cyber-crime.

While the arrested boys are alleged members of Organised Cyber Criminal Syndicate Network, OCCSN, the ladies arrested with them confirmed the alleged involvement of their “boyfriends” in internet fraud.

Items recovered from the suspects include exotic cars, expensive phones and diamond jewelries.
