EFCC arraigns husband, wife for fraud

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, (EFCC) Enugu zonal Command, has arraigned one Simon Udeani and his wife, Dorcas over alleged land fraud.

Mr and Mrs Udeani were brought before Justice M.G. Umar of a Federal High Court in Enugu, on a three-count charge bordering on fraudulently obtaining the sum of N2,750,000.

The couple pleaded not guilty to the charges, after which the prosecuting counsel, Nurudeen Ingawa, prayed the court for a trial date. But, the defence counsel, E.C. Nwauba Esq urged the court to grant his clients bail.

Justice Umar granted them bail in the sum of N5 million with one surety in like sum. He adjourned the case till February 6.

An Ikeja Magistrates’ Court sitting in Ogba, Lagos State dismissed a suit filed by one Mrs Tega James against her husband, Mr Lucky James over allegations of fraud.

The plaintiff dragged that her husband to court for allegedly defrauding her of the sum of N71 million (Seventy One Million Naira).

James, 47, was arraigned before Chief Magistrate L.A. Owolabi of the Samuel Ilori Court, Ogbà, Lagos State on October 4, 2022.

But in a Certified True Copy of the judgment dated February 2, 2023, Justice Owolabi dismissed the case against Lucky because his wife had agreed to withdraw the case.
