A female student of Federal Polytechnic, Mubi, doing industrial attachment with Adamawa State Television, Jemima Shetima Balami, has reportedly ended her life.
It was gathered that the Diploma Two Mass Communication undergraduate consumed a poisonous substance after her boyfriend informed her that he was no longer interested in the relationship.
According to reports, the man 24-year-old Jemima was dating is a lecturer working at the Modibbo Adama University, Yola.
The student from Garkida, Gombi Local Government Area of Adamawa State, died at her residence in Vinikilang, a Riverside community near the state capital, Yola. She is said to be the only daughter of her father.
Police Public Relations Officer in Adamawa, SP Suleiman Nguroje confirmed the incident on Monday, and disclosed that the father of the deceased reported the matter.
The police spokesperson said; “The father of Jamima reported that she committed suiciide by taking a deadly substance.
Another version had it that she visited her boyfriend, a lecturer at Modibbo Adama University, Yola, and was told to quit the relationship. Angered by the news of exiting her boyfriend, the deceased took poison.”
