Nigerian singer, David Adeleke also known as Davido, has slammed the Federal Capital Territory Administration, FCTA for imposing a ban on #EndSARS protests in Abuja.

CorrectNG reported earlier that the FCTA in a statement by Anthony Ogunleye, chief press secretary to FCT minister, Mohammed Bello, on Thursday, banned protests and any form of public demonstration in the nation’s capital, stating safety from COVID-19 as reason.

“The FCT Security Committee met for its routine meeting on Tuesday October 13, 2020, to review the security situation in the Federal Capital Territory with a view to addressing identified challenges.

”While the Committee recognizes the rights of citizens as regards freedom of association and movement as enshrined in the constitution, it has observed that the unruly conduct of the crowd and manner of demonstrations are in complete violation of the COVID-19 safety protocols which were put in place to safeguard the lives of citizens.” it read in part.

However, Davido, who is one of the celebrities on the forefront of amplifying the #EndSARS campaign, strongly opposed the decision of the FCTA.

He noted that the government allowed rallies and elections to hold in Ondo and Edo States where cases of violation of COVID-19 protocol were recorded but was against protests.

The ‘FEM’ crooner wrote, “Can’t protest but y’all just had campaign rallies and conducted 2 elections recently !!! Do they think ?? Wtf I’m ANGRY !!”
