David Ntekim-Rex: Nigerians mourn tech guru killed by robbers in Lagos
Nigerians have been mourning David Ntekim Rex, a Nigerian IT prodigy, who was been fatally shot by robbers in Lagos.
It was learnt that the 22 year-old was attacked in Jibowu around 8pm on Friday, as he was returning home.
Police were said to have been alerted after the attack, but they held onto his body and watched as David bled to death.
Even after he was rushed to the hospital, doctors refused to take any action until he was later pronounced him dead at the Lagos University Teaching Hospital.
In 2018, David beat 17,000 contestants from around the world, including finalists from Brazil, Germany, India, Japan, Nepal, and the United States to emerge as the co-regional winner of the annual Master the Mainframe competition, organized by AngelHack and IBM Z Academic Initiative.
Tributes have begun pouring in for the late tech guru from Nigerians who are saddened by his demise.

I just left Mrs. Ntekim-Rex. I don't think it has fully hit her what just happened. She's still in shock. https://t.co/cuQqUm32Oc

"Ntekim-Rex, according to a 2018 statement by IBM, had beaten 17,000 others from around the world". It took a few bullets in Lagos to stop him. Oh Nigeria! Rest in Peace, Rex. https://t.co/SyFagwvc15

A sad one at the hands of 'life-consuming' policies and a policing system that hasn't stopped wining and dining in failure. Downcast!#EndSARS
