Court sentences man to death for homosexuality in Bauchi

A Sharia Court in Ningi, Bauchi State, has sentenced a middle-aged man identified as Abdullahi Sani, to death by stoning for “homosexuality.”

The convict from Unguwar Makara Huta was recently arrested and arraigned by the state police command for allegedly engaging in homosexual acts.

Sharia Judge Abdullahi Aliyu Doya found Sani guilty of the offence as charged and convicted him on Friday, May 10.

The Sharia Judge stated that the Court commenced hearing on the case on 02/05/2024 and closed it on Thursday, 09/05/2024, for judgment and sentence, after listening to various arguments.

Doya explained that based on witness testimonies and the defendant’s admission of guilt, Abdullahi Sani was found guilty and sentenced to death by stoning in accordance with the provisions of sections 131, 132, and 133 of the Bauchi State Administration of Criminal Justice, 2001.
