Court sentences housekeeper to 14 years in jail for stealing employer’s money

A housekeeper Emmanuel Robson, has bagged a 14-year sentence for stealing various sums of money from his employer.

He was convicted by Magistrate Oluwatosin Erinle of the Igbosere Magistrate Court sitting in Ebute-Metta, on Thursday after being arraigned on 15-count charge.

Police Prosecutor, Inspector Cyriacus Osuji, claimed that the convict broke into the master bedroom of his employer, Odion Bello to steal a security key kept in the store and ransacked his safe where he made away with four gold wristwatches valued at N4m, cash in sums of €2,000, £1,000, $1000, puds valued at N450,000, among other items.

Osuji told the court that the convict committed the offences between July 4 and 8, 2023, at about 10am, at No 6, Taiwo Osipitan Close, Parkview Estate-Ikoyi, Lagos.

He said; “Robson stole €2,000, £1,000, $1000, four gold wristwatches valued at N4m, puds valued at N450,000, stole eight hundred Qatar currency (800 Qatar Riyal) and one Puma wristwatch valued at N1.2m.

“Other items stolen were a Diamond ring and Necklaces valued at N100m, stole another necklace valued N5m, stole music box valued at N500,000, stole credit card, and a black platinum visa credit card, United Kingdom.”

The defendant pleaded guilty to 15 charges read against him.

Delivering judgment, the magistrate convicted Robson and sentenced him to six months imprisonment for count one, two years for count two, six months for count three, and one year for counts four to six. Erinle ordered that the jail term should run consecutively.
