Court bars man from talking to his wife for two weeks

A Chief Magistrate court in Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State, has ordered one Chibuike Nwakedi, to cease all communications with his wife, for two weeks until they return to court.

The Chief Magistrate, Dolamu Babalogbon, told the 43-year-old man not to speak face to face with his spouse, Blessing, on the phone or near her, except through a third party, her lawyer.

The prosecutor, Inspector Sodiq Adeniyi, informed the court that the defendant on March 3, at about 8:00pm in Ado-Ekiti, assaulted his wife, Blessing Nwakedi, by hitting her right leg against a wooden bed, leading to dislocation.

Inspector Adeniyi said the offence committed is likely to cause the breach of peace, and punishable under Sections 186, 181(D) of the Criminal Law of Ekiti State 2021.

However, counsel to the defendant, Barrister Gbenga Ariyibi, urged the court to grant him bail, saying he would not jump bail and would provide credible surety.

The Chief Magistrate granted him bail in the sum of N50,000 with two sureties in like sum and adjourned the case till March 28 for hearing.

She revealed that they got married last month and her ex just returned to her life ater earlier abandoning her with pregnancy. The lady confessed that she still loves him and would not mind getting back together but the problem is her current marriage which is just a month old.
