Coronavirus: Uber driver cries out, claims he picked up the infected Italian from Lagos airport

In the early hours of Friday, February 28, news broke that the first case of coronavirus has been recorded in Lagos, Nigeria.

Shortly after the news was made public by the Minister of Health, Dr. Osagie Emmanuel Ehanire, a Nigerian man identified as Olugbega Bodunrin (@boldjohnson07) on Twitter, took to the micro-blogging platform to make claims that he was the Uber driver who conveyed the Italian citizen who was infected with the virus.

Olugbenga was responding to a post shared by The Guardian, which made it known that the Nigerian government has started working to identify everyone that came in contact with the Italian.

Reacting to the post, Bodunrin claimed that he had contact with the Italian on Wednesday, February 26

According to him, during the course of the journey, they talked and laughed together, and even went the extra mile by dining together. Bodunrin also made his mobile contact available.
