Chippa United coach confirm Nwabali’s likely exit this summer

Co-head coach of South Africa’s Chippa United, Thabo September has admitted that Nigerian goalkeeper, Stanley Nwabali could leave the club this summer.

Nwabali has been a subject of transfer speculation following his impressive performance for his country at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, AFCON,

Saudi club, El-Ettifaq, Sky Bet Championship side, Queens Park Rangers and Kaizer Chiefs are among the clubs reportedly interested in the shot stopper.

September expressed uncertainty with Nwabali’s future at the club in a chat with SABC Sport, noting that he can’t guarantee the 27-year-old will remain with the Chilli Boys beyond this summer.

“It’s not the right word to use, but of course I think there’s a high possibility of losing him. I don’t think it’s a fear [to lose him], that’s what the club is about,” he said.

CorrectNG recalls that last year, Super Eagles goalkeeper, Stanley Nwabali shut down rumours that he’s been getting juicy offers from clubs since the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Cote d’Ivoire.

Nwabali stated that he is yet to receive any offers from other clubs. The 27-year-old however, told FARPost during a chat that no other club has approached him or representatives over a transfer.

He said; “You see, to be honest, I’ve never seen anything on my table ever since AFCON. Maybe those clubs might have spoken to my team or my manager. But at this point, we can’t do anything.

“And they can’t approach me because it would be unprofessional. They must go to my club or my manager. So I don’t know if there’s something on the table maybe waiting for towards summer or transfer window.

“You know most clubs always do this. When they show interest, you’re opening the way to some other clubs. So, some people always keep it a secret, and when they get you, they get you once. For now, I know nothing.”
