Burna Boy rejected N1 billion offer to perform at event – Mr Jollof

Comedian and show promoter, Freedom Okpetoritse Atsepoyi aka Mr Jollof, has claimed that Grammy winner, Burna Boy turned down a N1 billion performance fee.

He said Burna Boy was booked to perform at a concert organised by him and some investors in Warri, Delta State, but they could not go through with the deal.

According to Mr Jollof, his team reached out to the singer’s management and offered $1 million (N1.3 billion) but they rejected it on the grounds that it was below what the singer charges.

The comedian made this known in an Instagram post while talking about how his fees got expensive before Nigeria could utilise him enough.

Mr Jollof wrote; “Me and some investors reached out to Burna Boy’s team for a concert in Delta State for One Million US Dollars (1.3 billion Naira today’s rate). Guess what? They said it’s too small.

“Burna Boy no dey Nigeria lane again oo because we didn’t utilise him enough before he was exported to global music market. No jokes.”

Similarly, CorrectNG reported earlier that Damini Ogulu also known as Burna Boy revealed how he rejected a $5 million offer to perform in Dubai.

He explained that he rejected the deal because he would not have been allowed to smoke his favourite substance (weed) in the United Arab Emirates.

Burna Boy stated this in a video making the rounds on social media during a freestyle rehearsal with his band, Outsiders. Emirati law prohibits smoking in parks, beaches and all public recreational areas in Dubai.

“Just now I turned down Dubai money, 5 million dollars na small thing cos me I no dey like to dey go where dem no go gree allow me smoke igbo… Shey na till dem tell you,” he sang.
