Burna Boy billed to perform at 2024 Grammys

Nigerian Afrobeats and Dancehall star, Damini Ogulu aka Burna Boy, has made the lineup for those that will be performing at the 2024 Grammys coming up next month.

The announcement of the ‘Last Last’ crooner as a performer was made on Monday morning by the Recording Academy, which added that others who will perform include American singer, Luke Combs and Hip Hop star, Travis Scott.

Other performers earlier announced include Olivia Rodrigo, Billie Eilish, and Dua Lipa.

“Attention: African Giant @BurnaBoy will take the #GRAMMYs stage on Sunday, February 4th at 8 PM ET / 5 PM PT on @CBS,” the Grammy organisers wrote on Twitter.

CorrectNG recalls that five Nigerian musicians bagged nominations for the 2024 Grammy Awards and they are led by one-time Grammy winner, as Burna Boy.

The other artistes nominated for the 66th Grammy Awards include Davido, Olamide, Ayra Starr and Asake.

Burna Boy bagged a total of four nominations while his counterpart, Davido, in his first bite, bagged a total of three nominations. Afrobeats sensation, Asake got one nomination while popular rapper, Olamide and songstress, Arya Starr each got one nomination.

The Nigerian quintet were all nominated in the maiden Best African Music Performance category alongside South African singer, Tyla.

Asake and Olamide’s ‘Amapiano’, Burna Boy’s ‘City Boys’, Ayra Starr’s ‘Rush’, Davido and Musa Keys’ ‘Unavailable’, and Tyla’s ‘Water’ were the nominees in the newly created category.

Burna Boy’s other nominations include, ‘Sitting On Top of the World’ featuring 21 Sav@ge under the Best Melodic Rap category. His latest album, ‘I Told Them’ got nominated in the Best Global Music Album, and ‘Alone’ in the Best Global Music Performance.

Davido’s other nominations are, ‘Timeless’ for Best Global Music Album, and ‘Feel’ which is in the category for Best Global Music Performance.

The 66th Grammy will hold on February 4 at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, California, United States of America.
