Governor of Ekiti state, Kayode Fayemi, has said that President Muhammadu Buhari and his party, All Progressive Congress, (APC) have failed to deliver on the promises made before being elected in 2015.
Fayemi who spoke on Channels TV, said though some of the issues troubling the country predated Buhari’s administration, elected officials should take responsibility for not delivering on campaign promises to Nigerians.
He said; “I’m not going to shy way from the expectations people had before we came to office. I was a leading player in the campaign that brought my principal (Mr Buhari) to power.
“We promised Nigerians quiet a number of things, particularly centering on security, anti-corruption, and on economic growth. Have we been able to attain all of what we promised? Obviously not.”
Ahead of the 2015 general election, Buhari made 3 pivotal promises, which were to tackle insecurity, fight corruption and pursue economic development.
However, Nigerian economy has slipped into recession twice under his government in the last six years, while banditry and school kidnapping have become commonplace.
