Borno state governor, Babagana Zulum, has unveiled two mega schools in low-income communities of the state.
The educational institutions which were built at Ajilari Cross in Jere and Abuja-Sheraton in Maisandari ward of Maiduguri metropolitan council, and commissioned on Monday October 26, will house underprivileged pupils numbering 30,000.
According to Northeast Reporters, both schools have 30 classrooms each, capable of accommodating 40 to 50 pupils, meaning about 3,000 pupils in 60 classrooms.
Pupils were provided free uniforms and have been admitted into the schools fully equipped with desks and chairs.
Zulum said the schools would be run by the communities, adding that the government would pay teachers’ salaries through the Education Trust Fund.
“In addition to this, Government is determined to maintain and sustain the school in close collaboration with community efforts in ways that will serve generations,” Borno government said.
